BOCA RATON, Fla. – Mizzou baseball went on the road to Boca Raton, Florida, and dropped its first true road game of the season to Florida Atlantic, 4-2, on Tuesday night at FAU Baseball Stadium.

It was a duel early between starting pitchers, freshman JD Dohrmann who made his collegiate debut on the mound, and FAU’s Kide Adetuyi. Both pitchers threw up zeroes for the first three-plus innings before the Owls struck for the game’s first run on a one-out single by Xavier Moronta. A second run came in the next at-bat via sacrifice fly to make it a 2-0 FAU lead, unearned to Dohrmann due to an advancement on a bobbled ball in the outfield on Moronta’s single.

Adetuyi stayed rolling, throwing up five scoreless frames before the Tigers (2-2, 0-0 SEC) got to him in the sixth. After an infield single by Tyler Macon, first baseman Jase Woita came to the plate and delivered a no-doubt, two-run blast over the scoreboard in right field to tie the game at two runs apiece.

Lefty Kadden Drew relieved Dohrmann in the sixth and recorded a pair of outs before handing it over to right-hander Sam Rosand. Inheriting runners at first and second with two away in the inning, Rosand induced a quick fly out to right field to keep the game tied at 2-2.

Rosand went back out for the seventh and a one-out double by FAU’s Brett Patten followed by a two-run home run from Nick Romano put the Owls back in front, 4-2. The Tigers were unable to string any offense together the rest of the way, falling 4-2 in their first true road game of the season.
