TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Panhandle Conference is consistently one of the best in the country when it comes to men’s hoops, and this year is no different. Four of the conferences five teams are nationally ranked, and all are ranked in the top 11 in the country.
As good as they all are, it makes sense that in the final week of the season, the race to a conference title and a bid to the state tournament is still very much wide open.
Tallahassee State has three games to go, and four teams all have five wins, including the Eagles.
Head coach Corey Hendren knows there’s a million different scenarios as far as determining the three teams that get a bid to the state tournament, but the good news? The Eagles control their own destiny.
“I’m sure every coach in the league is telling their guys the same thing, but I think it’s great because you can focus on you,” he said. “It’s all about your team and what you can do. You don’t have to watch for 100 different outcomes, who wins this game against that game. Look at each day. If you can win each game then you’re going to be happy at the end of the year. Tomorrow’s a big one because every game has a lot of value right now. We’re just trying to go one game at a time. We could go anything from first to fourth just based on how we do in these last three games.”
