TAMPA — Spanish flamenco dancer and choreographer Sara Baras will present “Vuela” on Tuesday, March 3, 7:30 p.m., in Morsani Hall at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, 1010 N. W.C. MacInnes Place, Tampa.

Tickets start at $49. Visit strazcenter.org.

Sara Baras is the greatest exponent of flamenco ballet worldwide. Ballerina, director and choreographer, she is one of the most prestigious and recognized Spanish representatives of the performing arts internationally.

The Cadiz artist began her journey on stage more than 30 years ago, and since then she has done nothing but reap successes, including the 2003 National Dance Award, the 2004 Gold Medal of Andalusia, the 2020 British Olivier Award and the 2020 Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts. She has performed more than 200 times at the Theatre Champs-Elysées in Paris, more than any other artist.

Baras founded her own company, Ballet Flamenco Sara Baras, in 1998. She celebrates the anniversary of the company’s formation with Vuela, a new work which one review said, “sets flamenco language in motion.”
