ST. PETERSBURG — Drivers on Tyrone Boulevard should expect delays starting Friday, Feb. 20 as lane closures take effect for about 10 days, the Florida Department of Transportation said.
Beginning at 6 a.m. Feb. 20, one lane in each direction will be closed around the clock on Tyrone Boulevard, also known as Alternate U.S. 19, between 73rd Street North and 68th Street North, FDOT said. One lane will remain open in each direction.
The closures are needed for paving and guardrail installation as part of a larger project to rehabilitate pavement on Tyrone Boulevard from Fifth Avenue North to Park Street North, according to the agency.
FDOT advised motorists to use alternate routes and allow extra travel time. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained.
The overall project, which is replacing concrete pavement slabs along the corridor, is expected to wrap up in the summer.
