An Orlando law professor faces 50 counts of child pornography possession following his Wednesday arrest, Orange County Jail records show.

Glen-Peter Ahlers, 70, taught at Barry University’s law campus in Orlando and has been a professor at the private, Catholic university for almost 24 years, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Details about Ahlers’ charges were not immediately available, nor were records requested from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, which arrested him.

Ahlers made his first court appearance Thursday afternoon, where a judge ordered that he have no contact with children, no access to the internet, no passport and no access to the university if he is released.

Prosecutors asked the judge to bar him from returning to campus because of photos found on his devices of female students from “certain angles.”

They also said they worried Ahlers could flee after making bond because he has a pilots license.

A judge set his bond at $100,000, but he remained a jail inmate on Thursday afternoon.

In a statement, Katherine Doble, a spokesperson for Barry University said the law school had placed Ahlers on administrative leave “pending further review” and was cooperating with law enforcement.
