Aniel Avidan Galo-Chavez is facing second-degree murder, according to police.

TAMPA, Fla. — A 20-year-old man was arrested just days after a deadly shooting in Tampa.

On Sunday, officers with the Tampa Police Department responded to a report of a man who was shot at a home on W Spruce Street. They arrived to find a man in his mid-30s dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Officers said they immediately detained multiple people at the home and started collecting evidence and conducting interviews. Preliminary information revealed that a group of people, who all knew each other, were at a cookout when arguments and physical altercations took place.

Police say one fight between Aniel Avidan Galo-Chavez, the victim and another man turned physical before the victim eventually “disengaged” and left the room. Galo-Chavez then reportedly went into a bedroom, returned armed with a gun and shot the victim, who was unarmed.

Officials say a gun was recovered at the scene and placed into evidence.

Galo-Chavez was arrested on Tuesday and taken to Orient Road Jail. Police say he now faces second-degree murder.

“This incident is a tragic reminder that conflicts should not be resolved with violence,” Chief Lee Bercaw said in a statement. “A disagreement has now resulted in the permanent loss of a life and devastating consequences for everyone involved. Our detectives will always remain committed to thorough investigations to ensure justice is pursued.”
