SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. — Sydney Elizondo wasted no time making her presence felt in Lennard’s (Ruskin) season opener Tuesday, throwing for 35 yards and five touchdowns as the No. 10-ranked Longhorns shut out St. Petersburg, 32-0, to open the 2025-26 season.

Elizondo, a senior quarterback, completed 2-of-6 passes while also contributing on the ground, rushing four times for 24 yards.

Grace Valenzuela was the standout performer in the receiving corps, hauling in six catches for 90 yards, including a long of 55. Makiya Bradford added three receptions for 28 yards, while Hope Hensley caught three passes for 36 yards. Makenzie Walker contributed four receptions for 42 yards, and Finley Oliszewski rounded out the passing attack with three catches for 16 yards.

Mackenzie Collins contributed on both sides of the ball, rushing twice for seven yards while adding two receptions for 12 yards.

Lennard’s defense was equally dominant, holding St. Petersburg scoreless on the night. Jordyn Colvenbach led the secondary with an interception and two pass deflections. Desirae Marano, Stacey Reducindo, and Kaya Bonner-Rivera each recorded a pass deflection as the Longhorns finished with five total.

Lennard, ranked No. 10 in the Florida Power 25, opens the season at 1-0. St. Petersburg falls to 0-1.
