A flagman working in a construction zone in Volusia County had a gun pointed at him after he told a man in a vehicle to stop, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said. It happened on Tuesday near the on-ramp being built at Pioneer Trail and Interstate 95. VSO said the flagman was holding his stop paddle, halting traffic for construction equipment on Pioneer Trail, when an unknown man drove up. The flagman told the suspect to stop, and the driver complied. The vehicle then started to inch forward, so the flagman yelled, “Hold up!” The flagman said that’s when the driver of the vehicle, described as a white male with a white goatee and transitional glasses, pointed a handgun at him and said, “Do you want to die today?” VSO said the flagman was in fear, so he let the man with the gun pass.
