A Volusia County man was arrested on Tuesday evening after he barricaded himself in an attic to avoid multiple felony warrants, according to the Edgewater Police Department.Once Paul Marotte noticed law enforcement on the scene, he fled into the attic and refused to respond to announcements or negotiation attempts by officers.After the police deployed a gas irritant into the attic of the residence where he was hiding, Marotte exited and was arrested. Marotte was wanted on multiple felony warrants, including violation of probation for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, grand theft, and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. Marotte was additionally charged with resisting arrest and transported to the Volusia Branch Jail.
