WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A Florida woman was arrested for forgery after authorities said she used stolen identification to cash two forged checks for more than $6,000 in Abilene.
Wanda O’Shields of Okeechobee, Fla., was also suspected of passing forged checks the same day in Belleville.
On Friday, Abilene policed learned that O’Shields has returned to the bank in Abilene and was attempting to cash more checks. When officers arrived, O’Shields fled in her vehicle.
A chase began and spanned multiple counties. The woman was eventually stopped by the sheriff’s office in Harvey County.
The 39-year-old O’Shields was in custody as of Monday morning at the Sedgwick County Jail. She faces multiple counts of identity theft and forgery accusations in Sedgwick County.
O’Shields could also face charges in Dickinson County.
