A new study from WalletHub named Miami one of the best college towns in America.
Using data from sources including the U.S. Census Bureau and the National Center for Education Statistics, the finance company ranked college towns and cities based on metrics like wallet-friendiness, social environment and academic and economic opportunities.
Miami ranked No. 14 among all towns and cities and No. 8 among large cities. The city’s hot social scene helped boost its ranking: It placed No. 4 nationwide for social environment, behind Honolulu, Atlanta and Pittsburgh.
Miami fell behind in the budget-friendliness category, placing 229 out of 415 towns and cities. For academic and economic opportunities, Miami landed at No. 158 out of 415.
“Miami stands out among the nation’s best college towns for offering strong academic opportunities paired with vibrant urban life,” said WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo. “Miami’s mix of strong academics and one of the best social environments in the country makes it a standout for students seeking a good study-lifestyle balance. The city’s multicultural setting, entertainment options and an abundance of career opportunities in industries like business and healthcare offer an appealing combination for young adults.”
