LEE COUNTY, Fla. — It was the first pickup of the school day, when a car slammed into the back of a bus in Fort Myers, Florida.
Video taken by a witness captured the crash, involving a Lee County school bus.
“Just drinking my coffee, and I heard a loud boom. And it was very loud. We saw the children walking to the bus 15 minutes prior to this happening,” Dave Johns said
The driver of the car survived the crash on U.S. 41.
“You would’ve thought (the) driver’s head cut off because his car literally went under the bus, so terrible situation,” Johns said.
A woman walking by saw the car under the school bus. Her immediate thoughts were somebody might not make it out alive. She ended up giving the driver some ice.

“He had a tag on his pinky, and I gave him some ice. He was a little scattered, which I would figure after something like that,” Tait Dunford said.
Three kids were just a few feet away from the stopped bus when this happened.
“I am super grateful that no kids were on the bus. I’m super grateful that he’s OK,” Dunford said.
There is also video of the bus being lifted and the car being pushed out.
Both drivers came out of the scene with minor injuries.
Traffic was backed up for about two hours.
