DAR presents on ‘forgotten patriotic women’
ST. PETE BEACH — Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Princess Hirrihigua Chapter presented the “Forgotten Patriotic Women Who Served in the American Revolution” program on Feb. 7 at the St. Pete Beach Public Library.
As part of this program, six DAR members dressed in colonial attire to highlight the heroic roles of 23 women who assisted at eight major battlefields from Massachusetts to Georgia. They described their diverse roles — camp followers, warriors, nurses, and spies — supporting the Patriots before and during the Revolution (as “Daughters of Liberty and Homespun”) and (as “Daughters of the American Revolution”) fighting for their freedom during the American Revolution.
The program is scheduled to be presented again on March 8 at the Historic Heritage Village.
