The Tampa Police Department said it is working to find a 17-year-old boy involved in a deadly shooting last month.
Police say he has an active warrant for charges, including manslaughter, in the death of 16-year-old Miracle Cromwell. 10 Tampa Bay News is not identifying the teen suspect at this time due to his age.
Officers responded to a home on N. 12th St at around 2 a.m. on Jan. 22. After arriving, they reportedly found Cromwell in a bedroom with a fatal gunshot wound to her upper body.
According to police, an investigation revealed that the 17-year-old suspect and several acquaintances, including Cromwell, were on a FaceTime call with another acquaintance. During that time, the suspect was allegedly waving around a tan-colored handgun.
After a brief “verbal exchange,” police say a single shot was fired and Cromwell died. The suspect reportedly fled the scene as officers arrived, but investigators were able to recover the firearm, magazine and live ammunition along the path that he fled.
Detectives say they’ve been working to find the 17-year-old but believe he is actively “evading” arrest.
Authorities are asking anyone with more information in the investigation to call Tampa police at 813-231-6130 and refer to report #26-41792.
