Cape Coral amended its Future Land Use Map for two adjoining city-owned properties totaling 69.99 acres along Kismet Parkway East. The vacant, undeveloped land in northeast Cape Coral borders an existing industrial park to the west. At a public hearing during its regular meeting Feb. 18, City Council unanimously approved changing a 28.4-acre parcel from a mixed-use designation to light industrial and a 41.59-acre parcel from mixed use to natural resources/preserve. The amendment preserves existing conservation easement areas across the properties and positions the land for the city’s future industrial development goals, according to a staff presentation. The city’s Planning and Zoning Commission and Planning Department also recommended approval of the change.Â
