A 15-year-old injured in a drive-by shooting in southwest Miami-Dade was recovering Thursday as neighbors said a person who could be connected to the incident was arrested.
The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Southwest 152nd Avenue and 75th Street.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office officials said the victim and a 16-year-old boy were walking when a car approached them and someone inside started shooting.
The 15-year-old was struck multiple times and rushed to the hospital, while the 16-year-old wasn’t injured.
On Thursday, neighbors said deputies arrested someone in the area of Southwest 171st Avenue and Southwest 94th Way.
Sheriff’s office officials said the activity on Thursday was connected to the shooting but didn’t specify how, and haven’t confirmed if they have anyone in custody.
The 15-year-old remained in critical condition but was expected to survive.
It’s still unclear if the teens were targeted but officials are not ruling out that possibility as the shooting remains under investigation.
