A woman’s body was discovered Wednesday morning on NW 15th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale. Detectives believe the death is a homicide.

Fort Lauderdale police have launched a homicide investigation after the body of a woman was found Wednesday morning.

Officers responded around 7:30 a.m. to the 200 block of Northwest 15th Avenue following reports of a body. Initially, police said they were conducting a death investigation to determine the circumstances. Detectives later said that after a preliminary on-scene investigation, the woman’s death was deemed suspicious and is now believed to be a homicide.

Authorities said the woman’s name will be released once her family has been notified.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Police are urging anyone with information to contact FLPD as soon as possible.
