STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women’s basketball dropped Thursday night’s matchup to the Florida Gators, 71-56.
The Bulldogs struggled to generate offense as a team in the contest, as they shot below 40 percent from the field. State only knocked down one of their three-point attempts in the contest.
Madison Francis was a bright spot for the Bulldogs on Thursday, as she scored 20 points, her fourth game with 20 or more this season. Francis earned her seventh double-double of the season, a mark that leads all SEC freshmen. She recorded 13 rebounds, tying her career high.
Francis also stood out on the defensive side of the ball. She rejected three Gator shot attempts, which was her 15th game with three or more blocks. She also swiped three steals for the fifth time.
The Bulldogs will be back in action for the first of two road games in the state of Texas when they take on the fourth-ranked Texas Longhorns on Sunday. Tipoff for the contest is set for 1 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
