Sweetwater Organic Community Farm says it’s been unable to process SNAP benefits for weeks and hasn’t been able to work through the issue with the USDA due to the government shutdown.
2. AuÂthorÂities searching for missing Bradenton teen
There is a missing child alert for a 17-year-old girl, Giselle Diaz Maldonado. Officials say she went missing on Oct. 16, but it was upgraded to a missing child alert last night.
3. David Fischer, 3-term St. Pete mayor, dies at 92
Fischer won three terms as mayor before term limits were put in place. He also served on St. Pete’s City Council.
4. SpaceX to launch Spanish comÂmuÂniÂcaÂtions satellite
SpaceX stated it is ready to send up its Falcon 9 rocket to launch the SpainSat NG II mission. The takeoff will take place at Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
5. Vance denies U.S. dictates to Israel as he meets with Netanyahu over Gaza ceasefire
U.S. Vice President JD Vance sought Wednesday to ease concerns in Israel that the Trump administration was dictating terms to its closest ally in the Middle East, as he and other top U.S. envoys visit Israel this week to support the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
6. Breast cancer survivor shares story; Wellness Expo to spread awareness
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the local Manatee County community is spreading awareness with its annual Wellness Expo.
7. NFL moves its Pro Bowl festivities to Super Bowl week
The plan is to hold the Pro Bowl Games on Tuesday night, Feb. 3, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, the venue that is hosting the Super Bowl experience fan fest.Â

TRAFFIC ALERT | The inside northbound lane of North Orange Avenue is closed between East Laurel Street and East Scott Street while the Tampa Water Department repairs a water main break. There will be barricades and signs in the area to help reroute traffic. The work is expected to be completed with a return to normal traffic patterns by 4 p.m. Friday, weather permitting. The Tampa Water Department may need to return at a later date to complete additional work.
