JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville men’s and women’s rowing program are set for their annual Row Across Florida Erg-a-thon fundraiser to celebrate Homecoming Weekend at Jacksonville University. This year’s event will have a seasonal twist: a Haunted Ghost Tour. The Dolphins will “row” from their home in Jacksonville through the most haunted places in the country, ending 6,065,000 meters (3,769 miles) away in Salem, Massachusetts. Each JU student athlete is pledged to row between 30,000 and 43,000 meters of the spooky tour this Friday, but that’s only part of the story.
Friends, family, alumni or anyone else interested is encouraged to join in and sponsor the Dolphins on their trek. Funds raised from Row Across Flordia will go directly to the day-to-day operations of JU Rowing and helping fund opportunities for student-athletes including travel and camps. To support Jacksonville on its haunted voyage to Salem, donate to Row Across Florida HERE. Fundraising from Row Across Florida allows JU to continue to compete at a national level, traveling to top events like the Head of the Charles and Dad Vail Regattas while pushing for championships every season.
Supporters are also encouraged to get in on the action themselves, donating meters towards the trek. Whether joining on campus Friday or virtually logging meters at home, everyone is encouraged to contribute. Whether it’s erging, running, walking, biking, swimming or anything other distance based activities, Jacksonville welcomes anyone to be a part of the action. To register to donate meters, fill out the form at the link HERE.
Jacksonville rowing continues to grow and develop, but only with your support. The Dolphins men are fresh off historic performances at IRA Nationals and the Head of the Charles, while the women ready to compete for their 7th MAAC Championship in the last decade. Friday’s Row Across Florida is an opportunity to celebrate JU Rowing and help lead to another great year of competition this spring.
