Foggy start Friday to near-record highs before cold weather returns to northeast Florida, southeast Georgia

  • February 20, 2026

Friday rain

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Patchy fog in spots this morning with temperatures in the 60s.

After an 85 degree day on Thursday, we’ll warm to near-record highs again today with clearing skies and breezy conditions. The record for Friday is 86, set in 1961.

On Friday, showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible as the warm air mixes in Southeast Georgia and staying mostly north of I-10 as a front approaches.

Friday forecast

Foggy start forecasted for Saturday morning. The cold front continues to sink in on Saturday, bringing more rain to Southeast Georgia; near-record highs of 86 are possible. Overnight rains should end by lunchtime on Sunday as temperatures rebound to more seasonal levels before dropping back below normal for a high in the upper 60s, low 70s.

Colder air takes over Monday and into Monday night/Tuesday morning, when freeze/frost will be forecast for inland areas with possibly dangerous wind chills. Dry conditions persist during this period, allowing for fire danger hazards to continue.
