Fort Lauderdale is putting out the Spring Break welcome mat next week.
“We’re a welcoming community – those who are families that live here in America, international travelers, anybody who wants to visit here, snowbirds, retirees, college kids from colder states,” says Mayor Dean Trantalis.
Trantalis says to make sure safety is maintained, there will be an increased police presence along the beaches and the entertainment district.
Open containers will not be allowed in the entertainment district, and no booze, coolers, tents or loud music will be permitted on the sand.
Beaches will be closed at 5:30 nightly so it can be cleaned.
To maintain residents’ quality of life, the city is also focusing on vacation rental compliance.
