The City of Fort Lauderdale released all the rules and changes that spring breakers looking to visit the city should be aware of.

“We want you to enjoy everything that Fort Lauderdale has to offer. But we’re setting a few ground rules to make sure this Spring Break season is enjoyable for everyone,” states the City of Fort Lauderdale in their website.

What to know

The City of Fort Lauderdale’s website states that the following restrictions will take place between February 28 through March 31, at the indicated areas:

Barrier Island

No inflatable devices

No tents, tables or similar structures

No live or amplified music

No alcohol, except from approved hotel vendors

Downtown

A curfew will be in effect in the designated area from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. restricting access for minors (under age 18) without the supervision of a parent or guardian to the designated High Impact area.

No coolers

Suspension of sidewalk cafe permits

Modification of operating hours for parks and city facilities

Bars and businesses will not be able to serve alcohol past 2 a.m. in accordance with the City of Fort Lauderdale.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s Bar Watch program offers spring breakers tips on how to reduce their risk of becoming crime victims:

Travel in a group. Check-in with each other and leave together. Don’t be isolated.

Trust your instincts. If a situation feels unsafe or uncomfortable, it probably is.

Watch your drink. Never leave it unattended. Don’t accept drinks from strangers.

Be aware of your surroundings. Know what is going on around you.

Don’t feel obligated. Don’t do anything you don’t want to or feel uncomfortable about.
