SEMINOLE — The Taste of Seminole has outgrown Seminole High School.

The annual food festival will move to St. Petersburg College’s Seminole campus this year after drawing crowds that overwhelmed the high school gym. The venue change comes as the school undergoes renovations and power demands from vendors maxed out the gym’s electrical capacity.

The event is set for Saturday, April 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the college.

More than 40 vendors will participate, including food vendors and food trucks. Tickets cost $25 in advance at warhawk-shop.myshopify.com.

Each ticket holder receives a punch card to collect samples from vendors.

Organizers aim to sell 1,000 tickets before the event and 500 more at the door.

Attendance more than doubled last year with help from sponsor Seminole Happenings, which returns as the main sponsor. Pinellas County Schools and St. Pete College will advertise the event.

AJAX, the contractor handling renovations at Seminole High, is providing generators and electrical infrastructure for the event. The company also is helping out as a sponor.

The food festival benefits Seminole High’s Academy of E-Commerce, funding student field trips and equipment. Students run the event, handling everything from vendor coordination to marketing.

Last year, students set up booths for local restaurants in the gym and managed crowd flow for hundreds of guests.

The college venue will accommodate the larger scale while solving the power and space constraints that limited growth at the high school.
