OXFORD, Ohio– No. 20/RV Miami held a two-goal lead at the game’s midway point, but No. 9 Minnesota Duluth rallied past the Red and White 5-2 down the stretch Friday night at Steve “Coach” Cady Arena. Doug Grimes and David Deputy lit the lamp for the RedHawks (17-12-2, 8-11-2). Max Plante, Hunter Anderson and Jayson Shaugabay each had a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs (19-12-0, 10-11-0 NCHC).

 HOW IT HAPPENED

14:04 1st (Miami 1-0) | Miami opened the scoring on an unassisted goal by Grimes late in the first period. Ethan Hay’s active forecheck behind the UMD net forced a pass to the boards that the Bulldogs couldn’t cleanly handle, and Grimes snatched the puck away and shot to give the hosts the first goal of the night.
6:15 2nd (Miami 2-0) | The RedHawks increased their lead on a Deputy goal in the middle stanza. Deputy picked up the puck in the neutral zone and, although he lost it briefly at the blue line, teammate Kocha Delic battled to win possession back 1-on-3 and then connected with Deputy trailing the play for a one-timer to double the margin.
12:34 2nd (UMD 2-1) | Minnesota Duluth got on the board to make it 2-1, capitalizing on a four-minute power play. Kyle Gaffney found Grayden Siepmann at the point and Siepmann skated toward the goal before letting loose with a shot that Anderson redirected in midair past Matteo Drobac.
17:21 2nd (UMD 2-2) | The visitors tied things up on a Max Plante goal with less than three minutes remaining in the second period. Plante sent a pass from the blue line to Gaffney, and Gaffney managed to re-gain the puck after it was knocked away. Quick passes to Shaugabay and then Plante in the center of the zone led to the close-range equalizer.
3:13 3rd (UMD 3-2) | Miami was whistled for a major penalty on the opening faceoff of the third period, and the Bulldogs capitalized on another long power play to go ahead 3-2 three minutes later. Scout Truman connected on a one-timer in front off a feed from Siepmann, with Anderson collecting the other assist on the power-play goal.
15:16 3rd (UMD 4-2) | Shaugabay added some insurance for the Bulldogs with 4:44 to play, catching up to a pass ahead from Max Plante to finish and make it 4-2.
19:33 3rd (UMD 5-2) | Callum Arnott closed the scoring in the final minute with an empty-net goal.
