Multiple rounds of storms today, warm and humid between rain for Tallahassee, the Big Bend and South Georgia

  • February 21, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – After an unseasonably warm Saturday morning, multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms will develop throughout the day. While the risk of strong to severe storms is low, isolated damaging winds and a brief tornado cannot be ruled out, primarily along and north of I-10.

Storm Timing Throughout Saturday

Dense fog is currently affecting much of the coastal waters and the immediate coast this morning.

Out the door, temperatures are mild in the 70s and upper 60s. Cloudy skies with only isolated showers or two possible until late morning.

Scattered showers will develop late morning and continue throughout the day until the cold front passes late tonight. If you plan on being outside, the morning hours look best.

The southeast Big Bend and the coast have the lowest chance of rain for much of the day. South Georgia and the western Big Bend have the best chance of rain and storms this afternoon.

There should be a brief break this evening before rain develops overnight. Most of us get wet weather overnight.

Between storm activity, expect warm and humid conditions to persist, with highs reaching the upper 70s to lower 80s.

If strong storms develop, the main concern would be isolated damaging wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph. A brief tornado is possible but unlikely.

High Rip Current Risk at the Beach

A high rip current risk is expected for all Gulf beaches today. Swimmers should exercise extreme caution in the water, and beachgoers are urged to heed beach flag recommendations.

Much Colder Air Arrives Sunday

A cold front arrives early on Sunday. Temperatures are in the 60s around sunrise and will fall throughout the day. Afternoon temperatures will be in the upper 50s. Becoming windy with gusts over 30 mph out of the northwest. I would advise against taking the small crafts out on the water tomorrow.

Clouds will decrease throughout the day. A much colder air mass moves into the region and remains in place through Tuesday. Below-average temperatures will dominate the forecast.

Looking Ahead

Monday morning temperatures will be in the 30s. Sunny and breezy on Monday afternoon. Highs in the 50s.

Freezing temperatures in the upper 20s on Tuesday morning. Staying sunny, but warming up nicely into the upper 50s to low 60s in the afternoon.

A warming trend takes shape from mid to late week, with a chance of showers returning on Thursday and Friday. Highs in the 60s and 70s. Lows in the 50s.
