Orange County deputy arrested on domestic violence charges

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy has been reassigned following an arrest by the Apopka Police Department for domestic violence.OCSO says Deputy Shawn Ellis was charged with domestic violence by APD. Jail records show that Ellis was booked into the Orange County Jail on Saturday.The sheriff’s office says Ellis was hired in September of 2024 and worked in the Uniform Patrol Division.Ellis has since been relieved of all law enforcement duties and reassigned to administrative duties while his case is underway.“Domestic violence has no place in our community or this agency. We will conduct a complete and transparent investigation into these allegations, and the results will be made public,” Orange County Sheriff John Mina said. “Every deputy at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is held to the same laws they are sworn to enforce.”OCSO says the findings of their internal investigation will be made public once it wraps up.
