SOUTH BEND, Ind./SPRINGFIELD, Ohio.- The Miami RedHawks indoor track and field team split up today. Some competed at the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame, and others competed at the Wittenberg Invite. Multiple RedHawks added their names to the top-10 lists, including Marisa Heil and Nora Zubillaga (mile), Avery Emerson (800m), Riley Betz and Camryn Dunn (60m), and Dunn (200m). 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Notre Dame:

●    Zubillaga and Heil  placed fifth and sixth in the mile, running 4:47.65 and 4:52.83, respectively. These times are the fifth and ninth-best mile times in Miami’s program history.

●    In the 800m, Emerson took second place with a time of 2:10.41 and Eve Traficanti placed sixth with a time of 2:12.67. Emerson’s finish is the fourth-best in Miami indoor history. 

●    Luke Mussard took third in the mile, running a 4:06.62 and Tom Heal took eighth, running a 4:12.31. 

Wittenberg:

●    In the 400m dash, Rachel Smith placed second with a time of 56.40 and Keena Sanders placed fifth with a time of 57.16. 

●    Betz and Dunn swept first and second place in the 60m dash, running times of 7.51 and 7.57, respectively. Lauren Jessup-Aiken placed fourth with a time of 7.79. Betz’s and Dunn’s finishes are the fourth and sixth-best all-time for Miami. 

●    The RedHawks took first through third and fifth in the 200m dash. Dunn in first (24.84), Betz in second (25.10), Jessup-Aiken in third (25.33) and Rachel Smith in fifth (25.35). Dunn’s time is the tenth-best in Miami’s program. 

●    Kylie Adams placed fifth in long jump, jumping 5.22m.

Next weekend, February 27-28, the RedHawks will travel to Mt. Pleasant, Mich., to compete in the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships.
