The United States Secret Service said on Sunday its agents shot and killed a man in his 20s after he tried to unlawfully enter a secure perimeter at US President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in West Palm Beach, Florida.
According to a statement released by the Secret Service, the man was observed to be carrying objects that looked like a shotgun and a fuel can.
Secret Service agents and a Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) deputy approached the man before firing and killing the still unidentified man. No Secret Service or PBSO personnel were injured during the incident, the Secret Service stated.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, PBSO, and Secret Service are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the man’s background, possible motives, and actions, as well as the law enforcement use of deadly force.
Trump was in Washington at the time of the incident.
This is a developing story.
