TAMPA, Fla. — Cold weather shelters are opening up throughout the Tampa Bay area ahead of another blast of cold air moving into the region. 

10 Tampa Bay News has issued a Weather Impact Alert for Tuesday morning as patchy frost will be possible, along with near-freezing temperatures north of Tampa and inland.

Here’s a county-by-county list of cold weather shelters opening across Tampa Bay.


Hillsborough County cold weather shelters

The following cold weather shelters will be open in the county starting at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday:

Pasco County cold weather shelters

The following cold weather shelters will be open in the county starting at 6 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday and close at 10 a.m. the following day:

Manatee County cold weather shelters

The Salvation Army will open a cold weather shelter at 1204 14th St. W in Bradenton, with check-in beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.

In addition, Under One Roof, located at 407 57th Ave. E in Bradenton, will open early on Monday and Tuesday to provide shelter for women in need during the cold weather. The women-only facility will open its doors at 2:45 p.m., earlier than its normal 3 p.m. check-in time.

Transportation to both locations will be available through the Manatee County Area Transit (MCAT) at 2:30 p.m. from Turning Points, located at 701 17th Ave. W in Bradenton.


Hernando County cold weather shelters

A warming center will be operating at the Enrichment Center, located at 800 John Gary Grubbs Blvd. in Brooksville, starting on Sunday at 8 p.m. and remain open overnight until 8 a.m. Monday. 

The county said overnight operations will continue each evening, from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. through Wednesday. The Hernando County Transit (TheBus) will provide transportation to and from the warming center. 

TheBus will pick up residents at 8 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday from the Walmart located at 7305 Broad St. in Brooksville and return riders to the same location at 8 a.m. the following mornings.
