A 13-year-old from St. Petersburg, Florida, was killed Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Clarendon County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol and Clarendon County Coroner’s Office.
The collision occurred at approximately 8 a.m. Feb. 21 on I-95 northbound near the 109-mile marker, SCHP reported.
According to SCHP, a 2019 Ford sedan traveling north on the interstate ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were transported to a local hospital.
Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell identified the passenger as a 13-year-old from St. Petersburg who died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
