TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Alabama softball capped an undefeated weekend Sunday at the Dugout Club Classic, rallying from a two-run deficit to Dartmouth with a three-run fifth inning to take the lead and hang on for the 3-2 win.

Alabama (13-0) trailed early after Dartmouth (0-4) took advantage of an error and a rundown to score two runs in the third inning. Still trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth with two out, Larissa Preuitt got the Crimson Tide on the board after swiping third base and coming home on an errant throw. A walk and wild pitch put Jena Young into scoring position for Marlie Giles, who roped a double to the outfield and drove in the game-tying run. Alexis Pupillo followed that with a single up the middle to drive in the go-ahead run. Vic Moten (7-0) ultimately got the win in relief, throwing 2.2 shutout relief innings.

“I think it was good for us to have a game like that where somebody really pushed us. Credit to Dartmouth, they definitely pushed us today. Their pitcher threw a great game. Vic came in and did well in relief, kept he score the same, Marlie Giles comes off the bench to tie it and Lex hits a rope up the middle for the winning run. It was the type of game we needed to experience as hitter and on defense because the last few innings were pressure-packed.”
