Clearwater police and fire rescue officials responded to the shooting at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Royal Breeze Apartments.

CLEARWATER, Fla. — A man was injured in a shooting at an apartment complex in Clearwater, officials say.

Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue say they responded to the shooting at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Royal Breeze Apartments on U.S. 19 N.

According to updates from the police department shared with 10 Tampa Bay News on Sunday evening, the man who was shot was identified as Josten Pack, 37.

Police say Pack threatened a man and a woman with a knife outside the apartments. “In fear for his life and the life of his girlfriend, the man shot Pack,” police said in the statement.

Police added that after the shooting, Pack was taken to a local hospital as a trauma alert, with injuries that were not life-threatening. After Pack was treated, he was released from the hospital and taken to jail.

“He was charged with aggravated assault in the Saturday night incident,” police said.

Officers added that Pack threw a water bottle at a 70-year-old woman, hitting her in the face the day before.

“Pack also was charged with battery on a person 65 or older for a separate incident the previous day that occurred at a nearby business,” police stated.
