A 33 year-old man died Sunday morning after an argument turned into a shooting on North Orange Avenue, according to the Orlando Police Department.
Around 2:30 a.m. police responded to a shooting at the 1900 block of North Orange Avenue, OPD said. Upon their arrival, officers found Julien Emmanuel Cruz, 33, with a gunshot wound and transported him to a nearby hospital.
Cruz died at the hospital, OPD said.
Through their investigation OPD learned that Cruz and 37-year-old Jean Gabriel Borja Gil De La Madr were involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical on the sidewalk.
During the fight Madr retrieved a gun from his car and shot Cruz, OPD said.
Madr then fled the scene in his car which was later found by patrol units at the 200 block of East New Hampshire Avenue, the agency said.
