An 83-year-old woman is dead and her husband has been arrested on first-degree murder charges, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday.
At approximately 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, the sheriff’s office said deputies responded to a call at the 8000 block of Romerly Court in a community located southwest of Rio Pinar in east Orange.
Upon arrival, deputies found the woman, identified as Nancy Lee Simmons, had been shot, OCSO said. She was pronounced dead on-scene.
Homicide detectives secured a warrant for the woman’s husband, William Elwood Simmons, 80, for first degree murder, OCSO said Sunday. He was taken into custody and transported to the Orange County Jail.
The sheriff’s office said no additional details were available.
