Victory Bell game between Cincinnati and Miami expected to move to TQL Stadium this fall

FOOTBALL TAKES ON ARIZONA THIS WEEKEND. AND IF THE BEARCATS WIN THEIR FINAL THREE GAMES, THEY’LL PLAY IN THE BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. DESPITE NOT PUNTING MUCH THIS YEAR, MAX FLETCHER HAS MADE THE MOST OF HIS OPPORTUNITIES. SPORTS ANCHOR JERRY MAY HAS DETAILS THE FLETCHER FAMILY LEGACY. GOOD RUN PROVIDED BY FLETCHER THROUGH THE CORRIDOR. MY DAD PLAYED AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL. SHE’S GOT A LONG OPTION. HE PLAYED FOR 23 YEARS, WHICH IS PRETTY COOL. OH, I WAS ALWAYS IN, YOU KNOW, WITH HIM. BEAUTY FROM DUSTIN FLETCHER. JUST A NATURAL THING OF, YOU KNOW, KICKING THE FOOTY WITH, YOU KNOW HIM. MAX FLETCHER WAS RAISED IN STADIUMS THAT HELD TENS OF THOUSANDS OF FANS THANKS TO HIS FATHER. KICKING. ANYWAY, HE HAS. DUSTIN FLETCHER IS ONE OF THE GREATEST PLAYERS IN AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE HISTORY. A TWO TIME AFL CHAMPION AND A 23 YEAR CAREER FIFTH LONGEST DOWN UNDER. OH, IT’S GOT THE CARRY. WHAT A BEAUTY FROM DUSTIN FLETCHER. VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE SUCH A DAD THAT YOU KNOW, CARED ABOUT ME AND ENJOYED, YOU KNOW, ENJOY THE JOURNEY AS WELL. MAX’S FIRST MEMORIES ARE RUNNING ONTO THE FIELD WITH HIS DAD, SO NATURALLY THE YOUNGER FLETCHER BECAME AN ATHLETE TOO. I REMEMBER KICKING WITH MY BROTHER OUTSIDE. YOU GUYS, YOU GUYS THROW THE BALL OUTSIDE, WE KICK THE BALL. BUT IT WASN’T UNTIL HIS SENIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL THAT MAX DISCOVERED HIS FUTURE. I THINK I PUNTED ONE TIME, WENT 58 YARDS, AND COACH TOLD ME TO COME AND, YOU KNOW, COME AND PUNT. AND, YOU KNOW, HERE I AM, ONE PUNT LATER AND MAX WAS ON HIS WAY TO AMERICA, RATED AS THE FIFTH BEST PUNTER IN HIS HIGH SCHOOL CLASS, FLETCHER COMMITTED TO ARKANSAS, BOLTING UP THE MIDDLE THIS MATCH. FLETCHER, WHERE HE WAS AN ALL SEC SELECTION AS A SOPHOMORE. HE’S AN NFL TALENT, FOR SURE. DESPITE SUCCESS WITH THE HOGS, MAX TRANSFERRED TO CINCINNATI ONE BECAUSE THE BEARCATS HAVE HAD AN AUSTRALIAN KICKER FOR TEN STRAIGHT YEARS. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, HE TEAMED UP WITH HIS BROTHER MASON, WHO’S ARGUABLY THE BEST PUNTER IN UC HISTORY. BEING CLOSE TO HIM, I THINK WAS REALLY IMPORTANT FOR ME. MASON GRADUATED LAST YEAR, MAX FILLING HIS SPOT THIS YEAR. HE’S ONE OF THE BEST OVERALL PUNTER PEOPLE I’VE EVER BEEN AROUND. MAX DONNING THE NUMBER 31 THIS SEASON JUST LIKE HIS BROTHER DID, AND HIS FATHER DID, AND HIS GRANDFATHER DID. I’M VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE SUCH A GOOD FAMILY AND A PROUD FAMILY THAT I GET TO WEAR THIS WITH THE NUMBER AND THE NAME COME EXPECTATIONS. BUT MAX IS WORKING ON LEAVING HIS OWN LEGACY. HE’S LEARNED THAT PRESSURE TO GO OUT AND JUST PLAYING FOOTBALL AND, YOU KNOW, PLAYING THE BALL FAR AND ENJOYING THE MOMENT JUST LIKE HE DID AS A KID WITH HIS FAMILY IN AUSTRALIA. I GO OUT THERE AND I’M KICKING OUT THERE WITH MY BROTHER, SO THAT’S ALL IT IS. KARI

CINCINNATI —

A storied college football rivalry that dates back to 1888 is expected to have a new venue this fall.

Sources tell WLWT the Victory Bell game between the University of Cincinnati and Miami University is now expected to be played at TQL Stadium, home to MLS power FC Cincinnati, on Saturday, Sept. 19.

Previously, Paycor Stadium was the agreed-upon neutral host site. Instead, FC Cincinnati’s home pitch is now in line to host its first-ever American football action of any kind — high school, college, or professional.

TQL Stadium, home to a natural grass surface, has a soccer capacity of 26,000 spectators, and the college football Week 3, Sept. 19 date coincides with a 26-day period without an FC Cincinnati home match.

However, after 2026, the Bearcats and RedHawks do not have additional matchups currently scheduled, potentially making this the last game that both teams could face each other for a while.

Cincinnati previously won last year’s matchup between the two teams, as well as 17 of the last 18 games that they played.

If this is the last battle for the Victory Bell for some time, it can be expected to be a hot ticket in the West End as college football season once again draws near.
