FSU baseball vs. Nebraska: Seminoles lose 10-1

The Seminoles were unable to get anything going and were touted by the Cornhuskers, suffering their second straight loss.

Florida State will have to score nine runs in the bottom of the inning to force extra innings to 10 to win.

The Cornhuskers are in complete control, having scored five straight runs after FSU got on the board in the fourth. The Seminoles have just one hit and have struckout 10 times.

Nebraska keeps adding on and the rout is on as they added two more runs in the seventh to go up 10-1. It is the most runs FSU has allowed this season.

FSU is in danger of getting blownout as Nebraska scored three more runs in the sixth to take a commanding 8-1 lead. Trey Beard, who had not allowed a hit yet, was tagged for three runs on two hits and a walk.

The Seminoles were unable to get anything going in the fifth as Chase Williams worked a walk and stole second, but was caught trying to steal third to end the inning.

Trey Beard had another perfect inning for FSU in the fifth, getting a strikeout and two quick groundouts. He has retired all six batters he has faced, throwing just 17 pitches.

The Seminoles got their first run of the game in the fourth inning with a home run by Myles Bailey. It was his second homer of the season.

Myles Bailey has put FSU on the board, hitting an opposite-field home run with one out to make it a 5-1 game. It was FSU’s first hit of the game and travelled 396 feet.

Florida State pitcher Trey Beard has taken over for Chris Knier on the mound, making his debut after transferring in from FAU. Knier allowed two runs on three hits in 2 2/3 innings with four strikeouts.

FSU’s offense has been unable to get going, and they went down in order in the third inning. Their only base runner of the game has come via a hit by pitch.

Florida State is now down five runs after Nebraska added two runs in the third inning. They used three singles, a double steal, and a groundout to get the run across. It was their first hit since Chris Knier entered the game.

FSU was unable to get anything going in the second as they went down in order. Nebraska pitcher Gavin Blachowicz has yet to allow a hit and has three strikeouts on 23 pitches.

FSU’s Chris Knier cruised through Nebraska in the second inning, retiring them in order with two strikeouts. Three of his five outs have come on strikeouts, and he has yet to allow a base runner.

Florida State had a chance to get on the board after Noah Sheffield was hit and took second on a wild pitch. Myles Bailey and Cal Fisher were unable to take advantage, striking out to end the inning.

Chris Knier was able to keep it a 3-0 game for FSU out of the bullpen, retiring the first two batters he saw to end the inning. Florida State’s bullpen will have to cover eight innings and will need some length from multiple relievers.

FSU is making a pitching change as Payton Manca allowed three runs in the first inning. Chris Knier is replacing him with a runner on second base and one out. Manca walked two batters and gave up two hits, both of which were doubles.

Payton Manca has struggled in the top of the first for the Seminoles, and the Cornhuskers have taken a 3-0 lead. Two walks and a double loaded the bases before a sacrifice fly drove in one run, and another double cleared the bases.

First pitch for the game between Florida State and Nebraska has been pushed back to 4:05 p.m. ET

Manca is making his second start of the week. He started against Jacksonville on Tuesday, pitching three shutout innings. He threw 50 pitches, allowing two hits and striking out three batters.
