A Miami Gardens man is facing a premeditated murder charge after a woman was found dead Wednesday morning, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department said.
The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Daneshia Heller, police said Sunday.
Fort Lauderdale officers responded around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of Northwest 15th Avenue to a report of a dead body, police said. Detectives found a woman and determined the circumstances surrounding her death were suspicious.

The following day, Altavious Powell, 34, was arrested on charges unrelated to Heller’s death, police said. Homicide detectives then identified Powell as the suspect in her killing and obtained an arrest warrant.
Powell is accused of first-degree murder with a firearm and is being held without bond, according to Broward County jail records. He is facing several other charges including resisting an officer without violence in connection with a separate case.
His arrest affidavit and attorney were not available Sunday night, according to Broward courts.
