About 2,100 performers from more than 20 area high school marching bands descended on King High School in Tampa on Oct. 4 for the annual Lion’s Pride Marching Festival and competition.

Bands from as far north as Crystal River and as far south as Venice participated in the competition where high school marching bands are judged and scored.

The event has been hosted by King High since 1997. Bands competing on the football field ranged in size from 39 performers to 243. The schools competed in four size divisions.

Bands were judged on music performance, percussion, visual performance and more.

The grand prize was awarded to Plant High School, marking the second time in three years that Plant has taken home top honors.
