Miami Police are searching for the driver who they say slammed head-on into a pick-up truck and kept going.

The hit-and-run crash happened on Oct. 6. Police said someone driving a Jeep slammed into the truck on Northwest 37th Avenue and Northwest 15th Street.

Surveillance video from a nearby home shows the person driving the truck was in the left-turning lane, trying to turn onto 14th Terrace, when the person in the Jeep drove straight into them.

Seconds later, the driver in the Jeep takes off.

The crash sent the truck back several yards while other cars were driving by. One person was seen across the street when the accident happened.

Victor Lopez lives feet away from where the hit-and-run crash happened. He was inside and heard the collision, but didn’t see it until NBC6 showed him the surveillance video Wednesday.

“It was bad,” Lopez said. “It just sounded like a crash, you hear it, and when I came out to see, it was just the truck.”

More than two weeks later, police are still searching for the person who was driving the Jeep. Lopez wants that driver off the streets as well.

“It’s scary because you never expect to see something like that,” Lopez said. “Imagine you’re walking in the street and get hit from something like that. It’s just crazy.”

Officers are actively investigating this case.
