A driver who participated in stunts during a large street takeover in northwest Miami-Dade back in December has been arrested, sheriff’s officials said Monday.
Lucio Marin Anselmo, Jr., 25, faces charges of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, according to Miami-Dade Sheriff’s officials.
The takeover happened in the early morning hours of Dec. 26 in the area of Northwest 36th Street and 27th Avenue, where around 40 vehicles were gathered and blocking traffic, officials said.
A yellow Chevrolet Camaro entered the intersection against the flow of traffic and proceeded to rev its engine and perform donuts as spectators looked on.
Just two days later, deputies spotted the same Camaro driving recklessly and attempted to stop it, officials said.
The driver proceeded to intentionally strike the deputies’ marked vehicle, damaging it, and then ran a red light while fleeing.
The alleged driver, Anselmo, was later found in Highlands County and was arrested.
