NFL insider Cameron Wolfe provided an update on the trade rumors surrounding Dolphins’ stars De’Von Achane and Jaylen Waddle
The Miami Dolphins, with a new regime leading the way, appear set for a full-scale rebuild this offseason. Star players like Bradley Chubb and Tyreek Hill have already been released, and it appears quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will be following them out the exit door in the near future, although the front office is going to see if it can trade him before potentially releasing him.
Two names that teams across the league are very interested in are running back De’Von Achane and wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, as front office personnel attempt to understand the scale of the Dolphins’ fire sale. And yet, while the team appears open to moving on from several players, reports indicate that neither Achane nor Waddle is part of that group.
Dolphins Not Looking to Trade De’Von Achane or Jaylen Waddle
Guys like Chubb and Hill are expected to draw significant interest on the free agent market, but they aren’t the only players that opposing teams are targeting. After they starred in 2025, both Achane and Waddle are being viewed as potential trade candidates, given the fact that Miami is starting from scratch.
It’s not hard to see why both of these guys are drawing interest. Achane took another big step forward in 2025, as he racked up 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns as a runner, while also catching 67 passes for 488 yards and four more scores. Waddle, meanwhile, carried the passing attack in the wake of Hill’s season-ending injury, hauling in 64 receptions for 910 yards and six touchdowns.
If the Dolphins were to listen to trade offers for either Achane or Waddle, teams across the league would likely flock to the phones and make their best offers. According to NFL Network insider Cameron Wolfe, though, it doesn’t sound like Miami has any intention of moving off these guys this offseason.
“Teams would love for them to trade Jaylen Waddle and De’Von Achane. I’m told right now they’re wanting to keep those guys as core players,” Wolfe reported on “The Insiders.”
Should the Dolphins Trade De’Von Achane, Jaylen Waddle?

With a rebuild underway, the logic for trading Achane or Waddle isn’t too hard to follow. The Dolphins are looking to accrue as much draft capital as possible, while also clearing up cap space. Both Achane and Waddle would garner significant value on the trade market, so if Miami wanted to move them, it likely could receive some serious compensation in return.
However, both of these guys are still fairly young, so it’s not out of the picture to suggest that they could be a part of the Dolphins’ next playoff contender. Plus, whoever takes over under center for Miami is going to need some help, which is something Achane and Waddle will be able to offer. So, unless the front office gets blown away by a trade offer, it looks like these two offensive stars are staying put for the time being.
