As a major winter blast continues to slam the Northeast on Tuesday, flights are still being impacted at South Florida airports.
It’s the second serious snowstorm to hit the area in less than a month, and the first blizzard to impact the region in almost a decade.
For some passengers at Miami International Airport, they have been able to fly out, but others who are trying to get to the Northeast remain stuck in South Florida and just want to get back home.
“It’s just been a headache,” a traveler said.
“It’s very nerve-wracking,” a traveler said. “It’s scary. It’s very scary.”
That’s been the mindset from so many passengers NBC6 has spoken to in the past few days at both MIA and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Many of them are trying to get back to New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and said they’re gonna be stuck for another day or two, as all of that snow and strong winds have made travel treacherous.
Just on Monday, Mia had nearly 150 cancellations, with FLL having about 200.
Currently, at MIA, there are 50 cancellations and 26 delays, while at FLL, there are 91 cancellations and 11 delays.
