JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three commanders with the Jacksonville Beach Police Department joined The Morning Show on Tuesday to discuss the recent takeover events that have been impacting the community, and what’s being done to keep neighborhoods safe.
Commanders Bingham, Crumley, and Shaughnessy weighed in on the recent takeover events, specifically addressing Saturday’s incident where five teens were injured by gunfire during a takeover event at the beaches.
The chaos of the shooting was captured on camera by a News4JAX viewer who was filming from a nearby high-rise.

The scene was chaotic, but Jacksonville Beach police moved in quickly to contain and quell the violence.
JBPD Police Chief Gene Paul Smith said in a news release that his department used the same tactics for Saturday’s event that they used to prevent similar events last year.
