Breeze Airways is coming to Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport with two new nonstop routes to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina.

The premium leisure carrier announced that both routes will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays beginning July 3. Introductory fares start at $59 one way to Fort Lauderdale and $49 one way to Raleigh-Durham.

Birmingham Airport Authority Board Chair Ashby Pate called the announcement an exciting development for local travelers.

“This is an exciting day for travelers in Birmingham,” Pate said. “Breeze is expanding rapidly and clearly has a lot of confidence in this market. The low fares offered by Breeze are great for travelers who seek efficient and affordable options. We know that if travelers use this new service, it will open up even more opportunity for growth in the future.”

Breeze focuses on connecting travelers in underserved markets with direct flights to popular destinations nationwide. The airline operates a fleet of Airbus A220-300 aircraft and offers features including free family seating, onboard WiFi, preferred seat options, and no change or cancellation fees.

The airline has received national recognition for its business model, including being named one of Fast Company’s World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2025. Breeze was also named Best Major Airline in North America by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) and ranked No. 3 Best Domestic Airline by Travel + Leisure in 2025.
