Chicago-based producer, percussionist and experimental jazz artist Makaya McCraven is coming to Judson’s, and you can expect musical boundaries to be duly pushed.

The drummer’s last double album, Off the Record, collected live and improvised sets from tour and collaged them together into juggernauts of “organic beat music.”

It’s a heady précis of where he’s at and a perfect way to catch up with McCraven’s live practice ahead of his four shows at Judson’s. You might just end up on a record.

Friday-Saturday, Feb. 27-28, Judson’s Live at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, 445 S. Magnolia Ave., drphillipscenter.org, $35-$588.
