From road closures and parking to tickets and free parties, here’s what you need to know about the 2026 Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Rev your engines — the 2026 Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is happening this weekend.

The event will take over downtown St. Pete for its 22nd year to kick off the IndyCar Series season.

Cars will speed through a 1.8-mile track with 14 turns, circling Pioneer Park, the Duke Energy Center for the Arts and the Dalí Museum, and extending onto the runway at Albert Whitted Airport. 

Whether you’ll be there on race day or you’re just trying to avoid the crowds this weekend, here’s what you need to know about the 2026 Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.


When is the 2026 Firestone Grand Prix?

The 2026 Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg will take place from Friday, Feb. 27, through Sunday, March 1.

However, the fun begins on Thursday, Feb. 26, with the free INDYCAR Party in the Park from 4-7 p.m. and the 5K Run & Walk at 5 p.m. at North Straub Park.

Junior pricing is available for attendees ages 12 and under. The “Rookie Racers” program returns this year for the youngest fans attending on a Junior ticket. Organizers say for an additional $35, while supplies last, children between the ages of 5 and 12 can get behind-the-scenes experiences on all three days and receive a special membership kit.

Fans can also get Pit Passes and Firestone IndyCar Paddock Passes for up-close action.


Roads closed for 2026 Firestone Grand Prix

6th Avenue S, 5th Avenue S, 4th Avenue S, and 2nd Avenue S east of 2nd St. will all be closed

1st Avenue S and Central Avenue east of 1st Street will be closed

Bayshore Drive south of 2nd Avenue NE will be closed except for traffic accessing Demens Landing

2026 Firestone Grand Prix parking

Parking is available for $30 at Tropicana Field Lots 6 and 7. Enter the lots at 3rd Avenue South and Dr. MLK Jr. Street S. 

Payment must be made through credit card, as cash is not accepted. A free shuttle service will run from Tropicana Field to the Grand Prix event site.

The USF St. Pete garage is recommended for those with limited mobility looking to enter the event at 5th Avenue S (Gate 5).

The SouthCore garage is recommended for those looking to enter the event at 1st Avenue S (Gate 1).
