Tampa, FL – Downtown Tampa is preparing for the return of the River O Green festival, an annual St. Patrick’s Day themed event that brings live entertainment, family activities and the well known tradition of turning the Hillsborough River green.
The celebration will take place along the Tampa Riverwalk and at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, where thousands of visitors are expected to gather throughout the day.
Organizers say the event continues to focus on creating a free and family friendly experience that highlights Irish themed performances, cultural activities and local food vendors.
One of the most recognized moments of the festival is the river coloring ceremony, where environmentally approved dye is added to the water to create a bright green appearance.
City officials have said the dye used is biodegradable and safe for the surrounding environment.
This year’s festival includes additional programming and updated attractions aimed at expanding the event’s footprint downtown.
Guests can expect live music, themed entertainment zones and interactive experiences designed to appeal to both residents and visitors.
The Rough Riders St. Patrick’s Day parade is also expected to remain a key part of the celebration, continuing a long standing tradition tied to the annual event.
City leaders anticipate increased traffic and pedestrian activity near the Riverwalk and encourage attendees to plan transportation ahead of time.
No suspects, arrests or alleged criminal activity were referenced in connection with the festival, and there are no related arrest reports associated with the event.
