ORLANDO, Fla. (CBS12) — Florida is officially joining the growing network of cities served by Waymo’s autonomous ride-hailing service.
On Tuesday, the Alphabet-owned company announced it is bringing its self-driving vehicles to Orlando — the only Florida city included in Waymo’s latest multi-city expansion. The move marks the company’s first time launching in multiple new markets at once, with three additional locations set for Texas.
Waymo’s vehicles operate without a human driver, relying entirely on the company’s autonomous driving technology. In Orlando, the service will launch gradually and will operate only in designated areas of the metro rather than offering full-region coverage.

Residents interested in trying the driverless rides must download the Waymo app. Access will roll out on an invite-only basis as the company expands availability.
With Orlando now onboard, Waymo’s reach grows to 10 U.S. cities — widening the footprint of driverless transportation in the Southeast.
CBS12 wants to know, would you ride in a fully driverless Waymo car when the service launches in Orlando?
