Week 8 of the 2025 season is being referred to as “BYEmageddon.” This has become a popular term in the fantasy football community for the week during the NFL season with the most teams on bye. There are six teams on bye in Week 8, two more than any other week out of the regular season.
The timing of the bye week is interesting. Week 8 is close to the halfway point, but on the other side of it, the teams will have to play 10 straight games before the end of the regular season. For some teams, the bye week in the middle of the season can come at a good time to get them off a losing streak, but for others, they have the test of trying to maintain the momentum from the first half of the season into the second.
Here is more on the teams that are on bye in Week 8, and a look at the overall bye week schedule.

NFL teams on a bye this week
The Detroit Lions, Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars and Las Vegas Raiders are all off in Week 8.
Detroit took its second loss of the season with a 30-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 6. The Lions were able to rebound with a big 24-9 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7. When it comes out of the bye week, Detroit will face the Minnesota Vikings, Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles in its next three games.

The Raiders needed the bye week. Las Vegas is coming off a 3-0 shutout loss to the Chiefs. Veteran quarterback Geno Smith has looked lost under center, with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions at the break. The Raiders will take on the Jaguars, Denver Broncos and Dallas Cowboys after the bye week.

The Rams played in London in Week 7. The big story with Los Angeles has been Puka Nacua, who is battling an ankle injury. He was held out of the Week 7 win over the Jaguars to get some extra rest ahead of the bye week to increase his chance of being fully healthy after the bye week. Los Angeles will have the New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers and the Seahawks in their next three games.
Similar to the Rams using the bye week to get Nacua healthy, the Cardinals are hoping the same for quarterback Kyler Murray. He is battling a foot injury, and backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett has been playing in his place. Arizona has lost five straight games and will play the Cowboys, Seahawks and 49ers in its next three games.
The Sam Darnold experiment is paying off early for Seattle. The Seahawks head into their bye week with a 5-2 record, and hope that they don’t lose the momentum of back-to-back wins. Seattle will take on the Commanders directly out of the bye week, and then will have back-to-back NFC West divisional games against the Cardinals and Rams.

The Jaguars have lost back-to-back games, but still had into the bye with a 4-3 overall record. Jacksonville only scored one touchdown in its most recent loss, but it was relevant because it marked the first for two-way player Travis Hunter.
